Detroit Lions Stock Report: Week 7

Stock Up: Ezekiel Ansah
Ezekiel Ansah wrecked shop against the Minnesota Vikings. I’m sure you’ve all seen the video of him chasing down Adrian Peterson from the opposite side of the field and saving the team from a long TD run, but that was only a splash play in a pretty much spectacular outing from any angle. Until late in the game when everyone was gassed, Ansah was terrorizing the Vikings tackles and they had no answer for him.

This isn’t the first time Ziggy Ansah has had his way with the Vikings offensive line, and I doubt it will be the last. The team really needed their defensive line to step up and they got dividends from nearly every one of them at times. The star of that line is clearly Ansah, however, who must love Teddy Bridgewater more than any other QB in the league as much as he gets to hug him.
The scary part is that he isn’t anywhere near as good as he can be. Three years into his career and he’s still relying primarily on athletic ability than technique, though he continues to improve every week in that area. It’s only a matter of time before he’s considered one of the best ends in football, and games like this are going to make quite the case for his new contract next offseason.
