Detroit Lions: Could DeAndre Levy Possibly Miss Season Opener?
By Mark DeGain
For the past 2 weeks, Detroit Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy has missed practice for unknown reasons.
Today, the first injury report of the season has revealed that he is suffering from a hip injury. Per Tim Twentyman, his participation in Sunday’s game is uncertain.
Jim Caldwell refused to elaborate more on this hip injury and the seriousness of it. Which tells me one thing, it isn’t something he will be getting over quickly. As one of the league’s premier linebackers, a hip injury is a pretty big deal. There are rumors floating around about the fact that he may require surgery, that he may miss the whole season, and that he will still play this Sunday in the game against the San Diego Chargers. The bottom line here is, all of these rumors are unsubstantiated and have no truth to them at all.

Until a full report indicating the extent of this injury is made public, everything is just heresy. It is not a time to panic by any means. We just have to wait and see how he progresses over the next few days. If anyone knows Levy, they know he is not one to sit out for no reason at all. Last year he played every defensive snap in the 16 game season.
If, in fact, he does not play this Sunday, expect to see veteran Josh Bynes step in his place.
