The first preseason game is long over and the Detroit Lions came away victorious with an impressive 23-3 victory over the New York Jets (you can check out the post game comments here). The Lions offense looked great piling up 428 yards against a formidable Jets defense. The running game looked especially sharp, they racked up 193 yards and allowed the Lions to control the time of possession the entire game. However, the first team defense did not look good. The Jets ran all over them and seemed to be able to gain 5 yards whenever they wanted too. Haloti Ngata was missing but its still something to watch for in future preseason games.

The team looked very solid as a whole, but its hard to get a good key on the individual performances during the game without taking a closer look. To solve this problem I decided to create a preseason series focusing in on the players that Lion’s fans want to hear about. You can tweet at me @Pursel33 and suggest a player for me to spotlight and I will try to cover as many players as possible.
