After the signings of Moore and Salas, this seems a bit far-fetched. Nevertheless the Lions could score a nice little weapon with Avery. At 30 years old, Avery would be a cheap option as well. One that could contribute fo a year or two and walk away with no dead money left over.

When looking at Avery’s stats you may be fooled into thinking this is an empty option. In the past two seasons with Kansas City, Avery notched a combined 55 receptions for 772 yards and 2 touchdowns. Those stats can be little deceiving considering Alex Smith has thrown 42 touchdowns in the last 2 years, and only 9 of them were to wide receivers.

One big worry for Avery is that he coming off a sports hernia injury that sidelined him this past season and is likely the reason he’s still a free agent.
