Brandon Scherff (#68), OT – Iowa

Brandon Scherff, a senior offensive lineman for the Hawkeyes, received the Outland Trophy this season and was a unanimous Consensus All-American. The 6-5, 320 lb. left tackle was also a 2014 Lombardi Award semifinalist.

Scherff is a better run blocker than passer at this point in his career, posssessing the lower body strength and leverage to consistently move the head-up defender off the line of scrimmage. He also looks natural when moving to the second level, with the agility and body control to break down and hit second level targets.

In the passing game Scherff possesses quick enough feet to slide out and protect the edge. However he’s a bit stiff in the hips and can struggle re-directing versus quick inside moves. A versatile player, Scherff has lined up as both guard and tackle throughout his career, though he’s ultimately a better fit on the right side.
