The Detroit Lions might have a problem at their pass rush, as evidenced by renewed injury concerns involving veteran DE Marcus Davenport. It's unclear whether Detroit is going to be able to play Davenport against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3, adding some suspense to the Monday Night Football showdown.
While Detroit might need to find a more long-term solution if Davenport is out for some time, one name keeps popping up as a legitimate replacement for Davenport in the starting lineup in the meantime: Al-Quadin Muhammad.
The 30-year old linebacker recorded a sack against the Chicago Bears in Week 2, and added some much-needed pressure to the pass rush that's been missing since the season started in Green Bay. If Davenport needs a week or two to recover from his shoulder injury suffered against the Bears, look to Muhammad to get a call up - especially given that he ranks 6th in pass rush win rate so far this year.
Al-Quadin Muhammad is 6th in pass rush win rate (28%) through 2 weeks.

Muhammad lands amongst elite pass rush talent through two weeks of action
If Muhammad is able to add some genuine pop to the Lions' pass rush alongside Aidan Hutchinson, it rehapes a lot of what's expected to happen for Detroit this year. With Davenport potentially down for a game or more, Detroit would be sorely lacking a lineman who plays as a true EDGE. That tilts their defense downward, adding even more pressure onto their secondary.
Head coach Dan Campbell also seems high on the defender, telling reporters after the Lions' Week 2 rout of the Bears:
"He’s crafty, he’s strong, he’s got some explosiveness and he plays hard. God, he plays hard. I mean, there was a number of plays, I can think of three right now, where he is running out of the stack. He’s running out of - ball is thrown, screen and he is running to try to get the ball or making a tackle. And it’s that kind of effort with what he’s got ability-wise that gives you a chance. So, he’s been big for us and he’s going to get more of a role. He’s earned that.”
With Muhammad playing this well through two weeks, he has to get some serious consideration for a start in Week 3. During the preseason, Lions fans saw just how powerful he is when battling with offensive linemen, and he has the speed to chase down a quarterback from the pocket given his versatility as a linebacker.

More importantly, Muhammad is essentially Detroit's only serious answer to a Davenport injury. They have players like Tyleik Williams and Pat O'Connor who could act less as run stoppers and more as pass rushers, to be sure, but that's further complicating communication and assignments for a brand new defensive coordinator in Kelvin Sheppard.
Letting Muhammad slide in as Davenport's relief in Week 3 makes the most sense to do, especially with how great he's been playing: winning out almost the same amount of pass rush battles as Trey Hendrickson and Myles Garrett, stars at their position. That's not nothing. Detroit has to take note, and should give him some more snaps against Baltimore.
