Former Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold has found his new NFL home just as preseason action gets underway. Arnold is expected to sign with the defending Super Bowl champions, the Seattle Seahawks, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Arnold’s intention to sign with the Seahawks comes after the former Lions cornerback also visited with the Houston Texans, New Orleans Saints, and New York Giants. The Lions released Arnold on Jun. 29 following his recent legal trouble, as his Commissioner's Exempt List decision looms.
Arnold was charged with kidnapping, robbery, and assault in a Florida robbery that took place last year. He had a hearing this week in relation to those charges.
Terrion Arnold’s career with the Lions
The Lions selected Arnold, the former Alabama Crimson Tide star cornerback, with the No. 24 overall pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, which was held at Campus Martius Park in Downtown Detroit.
In his two seasons with the Lions, Arnold saw his fair share of highs and lows in Detroit's secondary, producing 91 total tackles and one interception in 24 games. Arnold’s last season with the Lions was a frustrating one, as it was cut short after a re-aggravated shoulder injury in Detroit's Thanksgiving Day loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Arnold was later placed on injured reserve for the Lions, ending his season. Following his injury, the Lions would go on to finish the 2025-26 NFL season with a 9-8 overall record and miss the playoffs after winning two consecutive NFC North Division titles.
Now with the Seahawks, Arnold looks for a fresh start as he joins a dominant Seattle defense that helped guide the franchise to their second Super Bowl title in franchise history last season. Arnold joins a Seahawks secondary that features notable pieces including Devon Witherspoon, Ty Okada, Julian Love, Josh Jobe, and Nick Emmanwori.
Lions secondary entering NFL season
Entering the season, the Lions continue to face questions about their secondary and its impact. Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph are currently out for the Lions, with hopes of returning early in the regular season.
The Lions' secondary is likely to rely on other secondary pieces when they open the season on Sept. 13 against the New Orleans Saints at Ford Field. Players to watch out for who are looking to step up for the Lions include D.J. Reed, Roger McCreary, and Keith Abney II.
