After four-plus seasons with the Detroit Lions, Quandre Diggs was one of the "victims" of the Matt Patricia era in Detroit. After a midseason trade to the Seattle Seahawks in 2019, he earned a Pro Bowl nod in each of his first three seasons as a Seahawk.
Diggs signed with the Tennessee Titans in 2024, and as that organization embraced a youth movement he was waived in the middle of this season. He landed back with the Seahawks on their practice squad, which of course means he is in the Bay Area this week for Super Bowl LX.
Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press caught up with Diggs on Super Bowl Opening Night Monday night. Birkett of course brought up his time with the Lions, and Diggs was complementary in hindsight.
"Those fans, the organization, I love them. I’ve been there numerous times to play and it’s been nothing but love, nothing but the crowd still cheering for me and enjoying who I am as a person. So I’m forever thankful. I’m forever thankful for the opportunity that I had to go there, and it’ll be a place that I always have a special place in my heart for. And I’m sure guys will see me at games when I retire.”

Birkett then brought up to Diggs how some Lions fans have liked the idea of him coming back to Detroit as his career winds down.
"I had a chance this year, just didn’t work out that way,” Diggs said.
Birkett asked Diggs to elaborate on that, and he did.
“I mean, I was here. It was just an opportunity that I couldn’t pass up to be back here and enjoy these moments."

By "here", Diggs referred to being back with the Seahawks. He was signed to their practice squad on Nov. 26, and Birkett subsequently revealed the Lions tried to poach Diggs as they dealt with injury issues in their secondary. It's any practice squad player's right to reject the opportunity to go be on another team's 53-man roster, and he apparently did.
Ultimately, Diggs' decision to stay with the Seahawks after just landing back with them was proven right. He has a chance to play in the Super Bowl, and get a ring, in what could end up being the final game of his career. His comments also prove Lions general manager Brad Holmes was trying to find help wherever he could as injuries depleted the secondary.
