The 2024 season will be the Detroit Lions' 95th season as a franchise, and their 91st in Detroit. Amid at times fleeting, or patently non-existent, team success, they had some great players who have received acknowledgement in their Ring of Honor.

On Monday, the Lions announced wide receiver Calvin Johnson will be inducted into their Ring of Honor, the "Pride of the Lions", at halftime of the Week 4 Monday Night Football Game against the Seattle Seahawks. COO Mike Disner and former Lions left tackle (and current Lions radio analyst) Lomas Brown surprised Johnson with the honor in-person at his charity golf event.

Johnson is the 21st member of the Pride of the Lions, which was first unveiled in 2009. In 2021, linebacker Chris Spielman was inducted. Brown followed with his induction last year.

Current Lions who could one day be in the Pride of the Lions

If the Lions become a sustainable contender for years more to come, there will be some additions to the Ring of Honor from the current team.

Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, offensive tackle Penei Sewell and defensive end Aidan Hutchinson stand out, with quarterback Jared Goff and head coach Dan Campbell also looking like potential strong candidates. If the rookie seasons running back Jahmyr Gibbs and tight end Sam LaPorta had are the start of a great career, they will be strong candidates too.

In terms of former Lions who are currently playing, Matthew Stafford will be in the Pride of Lions at some point after his career is over.
