The Detroit Lions had a dream start to their 2023 season, upsetting the defending champs on opening night. After an offseason of nothing but hype, they delivered in a big way.

Now, they're coming off a mini-BYE week to take on the Seattle Seahawks, who were dominated by the Los Angeles Rams are 5.5-point favorites.

Seattle Seahawks key players to watch

Seattle Seahawks

Geno Smith: Just one year removed from finishing in the top 10 in MVP voting and winning Comeback Player of the Year, Geno Smith struggled in his 2023 opener against the Rams. He completed just 16-of-26 passes for 112 yards and one touchdown. If the Seahawks wants to return to the playoffs, he'll need to step it up as the season goes on.

Detroit Lions

Amon-Ra St. Brown: The Rams receivers torched the Seahawks secondary in Week 1. Both Tutu Atwell and Puka Nacua surpassed 100 yards in their win against Seattle. If those two guys can do that against the Seahawks, imagine what Amon-Ra St. Brown can do. He racked up 71 yards and a touchdown on six receptions on opening night and he's poised to be one of the highest producing receivers in the NFL this season.

Seahawks vs. Lions prediction and pick

I picked the Rams to upset the Seahawks last week and it wasn't just because I thought the Rams were better than people thought. More than anything, I'm a lot lower on the Seahawks than the public opinion of them. The Seahawks had a lot of things go right for them last season that resulted in a postseason berth. Now, it's a new season and I expect regression from them.

Meanwhile, I was impressed by the progress seemingly made by the Lions defense in the offseason. Sure, they played against a Travis Kelce-less Chiefs team on opening night, but they still got the job done and kept Patrick Mahomes in check.

I think the Lions will roll the Seahawks on Sunday.
