The Detroit Lions are coming off an embarrassing loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 7, but they have a favorable matchup at home in Week 8 against the Las Vegas Raiders in primetime on Monday Night Football.

The Lions have been one of the better offenses in the NFL – until last week – and they’ll look to get back to that in Week 8.

The team finds itself as a seven-point favorite in this game against a Raiders team that was dismantled by the Chicago Bears in Week 7. Las Vegas will get starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo back for this game, but is he enough of an upgrade to help the team pull off the upset?

The Raiders have three wins, but they’ve all come against underachieving teams (Denver, Green Bay and New England).

Here’s how I’m using the odds for this game to predict the final score between the Raiders and Lions in Week 8:

Raiders vs. Lions odds, spread and total

Detroit Lions score prediction

I think the Lions will win this game comfortably, as Garoppolo has been a turnover machine (eight interceptions in five games) when he’s played this season.

Detroit has wins by 14 and 18 points at home this season (and a loss to Seattle), so I’m willing to take the team to cover the seven-point spread.

The issue is, I expect this to be a much lower-scoring game than the total of 45 suggests. The Raiders are 5-2 on UNDERs this season, and the team ranks just 26th in the NFL in points per game, scoring less than 20 points in all but one game so far this season.

That makes this a bounce-back spot for Detroit’s defense, and I think the team finds more success on offense than it did against Baltimore.

Las Vegas, to its credit, is 14th in the NFL in yards per play allowed this season. With David Montgomery out, I don’t know if we can rely on the Detroit offense to go crazy, but the team should get into the 20s.

I’ll roll with a 10-point Lions win in Week 8.

Final score prediction: Lions 23, Raiders 13
