Pro Football Network has very bold 2024 fantasy prediction for Detroit Lions

Having a piece of the Lions' offense is a good thing for a fantasy football roster, but PFN has a particularly bold prediction attached to it for this year.

Last year, the Detroit Lions' offense produced the QB7 (Jared Goff), the RB10 (Jahmyr Gibbs), the RB13 (David Montgomery), the WR3 (Amon-Ra St, Brown) and the TE1 (Sam LaPorta) in fantasy football (through Week 18, 0.5-point PPR scoring).

Having a piece of the Lions' offense on a fantasy roster this year would be advised if possible, of course with context for a manager's draft position, draft strategy and generally where it makes the best sense. Wide receiver Jameson Williams can be added to the list of relevant Lions as an the teeth of fantasy draft season rolls on.

We've discussed LaPorta's chances to repeat as the TE1 this year, along with the possible path to RB1 for Gibbs and the path to WR1 for St. Brown.

PFN has big, bold fantasy prediction for the Lions

Jason Katz of Pro Football Network has come out with a bold 2024 fantasy prediction for every NFL team. For the Lions, it's an especially bold prediction: three Lions finishing No. 1 overall at their position.

Katz acknowledged how improbable it would be.

"It’s almost impossible for this prediction to come to fruition. There’s only one football. For three Lions to get there without one being the quarterback, they would all need elite volume and elite efficiency."

Katz went on to note how Travis Kelce average 0.5 more fantasy points per game last year than LaPorta (full PPR scoring), and St. Brown was three fantasy points per game behind WR1 CeeDee Lamb. Gibbs was of course well further behind RB1 Christian McCaffrey in fantasy points per game, but there is a possible path to being the RB1 this year, which Katz pointed out in light of how all three could finish No. 1 at their position.

"How does it happen? LaPorta and St. Brown can have mostly repeats of their 2023 seasons and get there. They just need the league average to drop a bit. Gibbs is trickier, but here’s the path. What if David Montgomery gets hurt, allowing Gibbs to see a larger workload?

Gibbs is already in line for a bigger workload this year, but he will surely need even a little more work than that to finish as the RB1 in fantasy this year. A David Montgomery injury would open that kind of workload up, but it seems unlikely this significantly bold prediction of three Lions finishing as the "1s" at their position in fantasy comes to fruition.
