NFL analyst thinks Dan Campbell would win 2024 Presidential election

In another life, maybe he's on to something...

Over the last couple of years, the NFL world has fallen in love with Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell.

We've gone from poking fun at the "biting kneecaps" charade to believing that this guy might be one of the best coaches in football. And, it's not just fans who believe this. The national media is on board with Campbell and his persona.

On a recent episode of Sports Illustrated's MMQB Podcast, Conor Orr and Albert Breer covered a multitude of topics and among them, Campbell. Specifically, Orr's praise of Campbell's coaching style went so far as to suggest the Lions head coach would make a great Presidential candidate.

He didn't stop there, though. Orr would go on to say that, if Campbell were to be a candidate in this year's election, he would win.

"We don't know anything about any of his personal beliefs. We don't know any of his thoughts on any of the hot button issues...

" ... like let's say the Democrats at the last second, replaced Joe Biden like a week before the election, with Dan Campbell. He wins in a landslide, right? Like, it's not even close ... or if the Republicans had to do the same thing. If they had to replace Trump with Dan Campbell at the last minute ... he's probably one of the most likable people there is," Orr said.

While this was most certainly a facetious claim by Orr, the motive behind such an opinion is noted. Campbell's leadership and coaching style works. Players love him. Fans love him. The entire city of Detroit loves him.

Shoot, I would venture to guess there are Bears, Packers and Vikings fans who couldn't deny the fact that even they like him a little bit. Campbell came in, originally, with an unorthodox type of coaching style. His press conferences were somewhere between seriously motivating and hilariously unbelievable.

But, it's working.

It's Super Bowl or bust for Dan Campbell and the Lions in 2024

After making it to the NFC Championship Game last season, the Lions are on the hunt for more. In an NFC that seems to be fairly winnable, Detroit is one of the favorites to make it all the way to the Super Bowl.

At the moment, their biggest competition appears to be the San Francisco 49ers, which means we could end up seeing a rematch of last year's NFC Championship Game. Except this time, the Lions are ready to flip the tables on the Niners.

There aren't many other legitimate contenders in the NFC. One could argue the Philadelphia Eagles, but the way they finished last season was an embarrassment to their fan base and organization. Plus, Philly has new coordinators on offense and defense. That's not an easy transition.

The Dallas Cowboys did nothing this offseason and have historically choked in the postseason, anyways.

Maybe the next-best threat is within the division, over in Green Bay. The Packers have put together a pretty strong team and look like the real deal behind Jordan Love. Although, Lions fans would argue that Detroit is a more talented team -- and better-coached, although that's a very biased opinion.

What will Campbell and the Lions do for an encore in 2024? No, he won't be running for President. But, Campbell's leadership may take this team all the way, and that would make for a well-deserved, historical season for Detroit.
