Lions fans have emotional reaction to SI’s Super Bowl prediction
The hype for the Lions' season is so powerful, it's almost enough to ignore the Sports Illustrated cover jinx.
Heading into one of the more anticipated season in Detroit football history, the Lions are officially no longer sneaking up on anyone. And that's usually how it goes when you miss out on making a Super Bowl appearance by only three points, but still – it's a little wild to see how quickly Dan Campbell turned this group around. Three years ago they were a 13-loss team, and now they're stone-facing the cover of Sports Illustrated's NFL preview edition:
An old car! With blue interior! And no one's smiling! It's all so peak Detroit. Jared Goff literally has the word "grit" on multiple pieces of clothing. I can only assume that Dan Campbell's just out of frame, deadlifting the front of this car.
SI's entire article is worth your time to check out, but here's a tiny little morsel for you to read, as a treat.
SI has the Lions winning the Super Bowl and fans are READY for it
"All of it suggests—no, screams—that these Lions are ready for more. More expectations. More wins. More success. They’re ready to grab the wheel from Campbell and drive this franchise straight to New Orleans in February, to the Lions’ first Super Bowl. This offseason Goff, Sewell and St. Brown all signed massive contract extensions, securing themselves as tentpoles of the franchise for years to come."
If prose doesn't quite do it for you, may I suggest some of these tweets?
The Lions are getting the flowery-SI-profile treatment. The Lions are the talk of the NFL in 2024-2025. The Lions are going to the Super Bowl.
