According to TMZ, former Detroit Lions tight end Brandon Pettigrew was arrested early Sunday morning after he punched and broke a glass door at a 7-Eleven convenience store in Dallas.

The video posted by TMZ Tuesday morning shows Pettigrew involved in an escalating discussion with what appears to be fellow customers and a responding officer. He then punches and breaks the glass door of a display case, and surrenders to police without further incident.

It's unclear what led to the incident. A representative from the Dallas Police Department told TMZ the incident happened around 2 a.m. on Sunday morning, and records show Pettigrew was released from custody at around 1 p.m. the same day.

As TMZ noted, this is not the first time Pettigrew has had trouble with the law.

In 2017, he was arrested for his alleged role in a disturbance at a bar. In 2018, he was arrested again after he was accused of hitting a police officer following a dispute over an unpaid limousine bill.

Pettigrew, a native of Tyler, Texas, was a first-round pick (20th overall) by the Lions out of Oklahoma State in 2009. He spent all seven seasons of his career in Detroit, including a 2011 campaign where he set the single-season reception and yardage records for a Lions' tight end (83 catches for 777 yards) that stood until Sam LaPorta broke them last year. He also had 71 receptions for 772 yards in 2010, and another 50-catch season (59, for 567 yards) in 2012.

Pettigrew finished his career (93 games) with 301 catches for 2,965 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Pettigrew was placed on the PUP list by the Lions going into the 2016 season, before landing on the NFI (non-football injury) list and eventually being waived then released late in that season. He did not latch on with another team.
