2. Chicago Bears

Even after adding Yannick Ngakoue, the Bears could use some pass rush help. For whatever it's worth as a close-up view of what he can do, Okwara's two-sack game last season came against them at Soldier Field.

The idea there's risk in trading within your division is outdated, and something Lions' general manager Brad Holmes is obviously not afraid to do. Dealing Okwara to the Bears, if they make an offer/the best offer for him, isn't likely to haunt the Lions anyway.

1. New York Giants

Besides the preseason opener, the Giants of course saw Okwara work agains their offensive lineman during the two days of joint practices at Allen Park leading up to the game. So the report of them being essentially a team (the top team?) to watch on the trade front comes with them having some recent insight, and apparently liking what they saw.

The scheme deployed by Giants' defensive coordinator Don "Wink" Martindale could always use more pieces who can put heat on opposing quarterbacks. And beyond Kayvon Thibodeaux and Azeez Ojulari, their edge rusher group definitely looks to be lacking.

If the Giants were sufficiently teased by what they saw from Okwara 10-14 days ago now, they could very well see him as a low-cost addition who can hopefully add a little juice to their pass rush. The Lions' best offer for Okwara may come from Giants' general manager Joe Schoen.
