The preseason is just about over with, and the Detroit Lions are set to try and build on the momentum generated on the tail end of the 2022 season.

Things are about to get real in a hurry, as teams will begin cutting down to the 53-man roster all at once. On Tuesday, August 29, we're going to see a whole heck of a lot of names cut loose.

For the Lions, many of those cuts should be relatively easy, while others will be tougher. There are six players, specifically, we think the Lions are going to surely cut ties with, though.

1. Benny Snell, RB

The running back position looks pretty set right now, with David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs getting ready to split time but also get a ton of touches, each. Those two are going to be the focal point of this back field, with Craig Reynolds serving as a reserve.

It's likely the Lions keep three running backs and a full back, Jason Cabinda. Sooner or later, that means it will be the end of the road for former PIttsburgh Steeler Benny Snell, who signed with the Lions earlier this month.

2. Bobby Hart, G

If I was a betting man, I would bet the Lions keep nine or 10 offensive linemen: Taylor Decker, Jonah Jackson, Frank Ragnow, Halapoulivaati Vaitai, Penei Sewell, Graham Glasgow, Colby Sorsdal, Matt Nelson and probably Germain Ifedi. Those are the nine I see making the squad, for sure.

Just on the outside looking in will be veteran Bobby Hart, whom the Lions had recently signed.
