The Detroit Lions' Monday night practice was headlined by injuries to cornerbacks Terrion Arnold (upper body) and Ennis Rakestraw (ankle), as well as running back Jahmyr Gibbs (leg).

A fairly quick subsequent report said Gibbs has a hamstring issue. Tuesday night it was reported Arnold had a pectoral injury, but is not expected to miss regular season time. Rakestraw posted an optimistic injury update on his social media.

Lions head coach Dan Campbell isn't scheduled to talk to the media again until after Saturday's preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs. But he did appear on 97.1 The Ticket's Costa and Jensen show Wednesday morning, with some injury updates.

"Immediately, two days ago, my phone’s blowing up," Dan Campbell said "I got all these people hitting me up about, 'Man, what happened to Gibbs?! Oh my god, TA! It’s done.' All these reports are out."

"I think we’re going to be fine here, alright?" Campbell said. "I think we’ll be good."

On Gibbs, Campbell's words backs up Ian Rapoport's report from Tuesday night.

Campbell added cornerback Carlton Davis is dealing with a hamstring injury, but "he'll be fine."

Campbell was naturally asked if quarterback Hendon Hooker, who entered concussion protocol after being injured in the preseason opener against the Giants, will be back for Saturday's preseason game against the Chiefs.

"I think so. I think there’s a good chance. I can’t say absolutely yes, but I think it’s trending the right way."

Hooker was back on the practice field for Wednesday morning.

Campbell said the original plan for Wednesday's practice was a scrimmage, but the injury bug that has hit the roster led to going without pads for the session.

There has been talk about if Lions' starters will play against the Chiefs. Campbell addressed that too.

"There could be a couple of guys But (a couple) at most, tentatively, right now. We may get a couple of D-linemen going here, against the Chiefs, that didn’t play last week. Our offense is probably pretty set. So, the long and short of it: Maybe a couple of guys but that’s about it.”

The Lions also made a roster move Wednesday morning, waiving defensive back Morice Norris with an injury designation and signing cornerback Javelin Guidry. Guidry has spent time with five teams since going undrafted in 2020 (Jets, Cardinals, Raiders, Eagles and Falcons), appearing in 32 games with five starts. A training camp knee injury ended his 2023 season, so he hasn't seen action since 2022.
