Detroit Lions at Kansas City Chiefs: How to watch, listen to Preseason Week 2
Saturday's preseason game between the Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs will represent two different approaches. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid does not embrace joint practices, so he has said he plans to play starters through the first half on Saturday. Lions head coach Dan Campbell has said most of his starters will sit out, save for a couple players on the defensive side.
For Campbell, an injury-filled preseason opener against the New York Giants and three notable injuries from their practice on Monday night complicates any decision to play many (or any) key Lions' players. That will provide opportunity for plenty of others though, as position battles could move one direction or the other dramatically based on what happens against the Chiefs.
Quarterback Hendon Hooker looked promising before leaving the preseason opener with a concussion. He returned to practice on Wednesday, but his status for Saturday's game is unknown as of this writing. He simply needs reps, so ideally he'll be able to play and take a firm hold on the No. 2 quarterback spot over Nate Sudfeld.
The last time the Lions visited Kansas City, they put the league on notice they were for real by beating the Chiefs in last year's Thursday night season opener.
