The Detroit Lions have re-signed players on both sides of the ball in the first week of free agency, and in the time beforehand, as expected since they highly value retaining their own. But in terms of outside additions, it's been all about the defense so far. As it should be.

After a mostly dormant first day of the legal negotiation (tampering) window, news dropped the Lions had agreed to terms with edge rusher Marcus Davenport. Right on the heels of that, minutes later, news came they had agreed to a trade to acquire cornerback Carlton Davis from the Tampa Bay Bay Buccaneers.

Day 2 of the negotiation window (don't call it the "legal tampering" window, or NFL Network's Andrew Siciliano tell you to get off his lawn) brought the Lions adding another cornerback, former Raider Amik Robertson.

Last Thursday, after the full-on "free agency frenzy" had slowed down, the Lions had defensive tackle DJ Reader in for a visit and they did not let him leave the building before agreeing to a two-year deal with him.

In terms or free agent losses from the first wave of free agency, left guard Jonah Jackson (to the Rams) and defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson (to the Eagles) were the most notable for the Lions. As we enter the next stage of free agent signings, wide receiver Josh Reynolds seems lined up to join them.

There's an important mock draft note now. In the Davis trade, the Lions parted with one of their third-round picks this year (No. 92 overall) while acquiring a sixth-round pick (No. 201 overall) this year and in 2025.

Using Pro Football Network's mock draft simulator, here's a new Lions' mock draft after the first week of free agency.
