Dan Campbell maintains original tune about Lions fans despite having to move
Out of nowhere earlier this week, Crains Detroit Business reported that Lions head coach Dan Campbell put his home in Bloomfield Hills on the market due to security concerns. It's already pending sale.
"There's plenty of space, it's on two acres, the home is beautiful," Campbell told Crain's. "It's just that people figured out where we lived when we lost."
According to Fox 2 in Detroit, Campbell's family filed police reports after last year's NFC Championship Game loss to the 49ers. The morning after last year's regular season loss to the Dallas Cowboys, Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reported someone sent contractors to Campbell's house after his address was uncovered.
Reporters have a job to do. So asking Campbell about the situation with his move due to apparent security concerns was going to be done by someone during his press conference on Friday.
Campbell's response was also easily expected.
"Man, I don't, no disrespect -- I don't even want to go there, with any of it," Campbell said. "It's all good and I've got a job to do. My primary job here is to coach this team and have them prepared every week. I've got to do my job and that's the sole focus."
Dan Campbell maintains affinity for Lions' fans after move due to security concerns
Campbell was then asked if he had anything he wanted to say to fans after the reported but unspecified things that went on at his old house after the playoff loss to the 49ers.
Campbell has consistently praised Lions' fans and the passion they have over the course of his time as head coach. He's clearly not letting a minority of lame "fanatics", who apparently don't respect literal privacy/personal boundaries, impact how he feels about the fanbase as a whole.
"I love our fans. Fans are unbelievable," Campbell said. "This city, there's nowhere that I would want to be, or any other team I'd want to coach for. It's rare to have an environment like we have, and to be able to coach here, play here, I tell our guys that all the time. This is a rare spot, and you better enjoy it, because not every place has it like we have it."
