Amon-Ra St. Brown reveals what Lions must do to reach the ultimate goal
By Max DeMara
The Detroit Lions have high expectations for the 2024 season, and have been talking openly about the goal of making and winning a Super Bowl.
It's clear the stakes have been raised in a major way for a franchise that has been more accustomed to failure through the decades. No longer is that the case, though, after Dan Campbell has raised the bar and the players have followed suit.
Count Amon-Ra St. Brown among those who believe the Lions have changed their thinking for good.
"I think we're really confident. I feel like each year, you get into that meeting room the first day and it's like, 'what do you want to accomplish as a team?' I can truthfully say this year, it's not even playoffs. It's not (a) number one seed. It's the Super Bowl. I feel like everyone in the room (agrees) and it's the first year I feel like truly as a team, we all feel the same way. We all want to win a Super Bowl. We know we can win a Super Bowl. We have the team. We have the coaches. We have everything we need in this building to win a Super Bowl and that's our goal. That's our focus. Everything we do from here out moving forward is to get that Super Bowl."
Amon-Ra St. Brown: Detroit Lions must find ways to improve
The Lions enjoyed a great 2023 season, going 12-5, winning the NFC North and a pair of playoff games. Still, as St. Brown said, those positive results are no longer good enough for a team that believes it should win the Super Bowl.
How can the Lions take the next step to greatness? St. Brown believes that Detroit must find a way to make subtle improvements everywhere, remaining unsatisfied with what they already accomplished last year.
"I think for us, to do the same thing and expect different results is crazy, right? So we got to do more than we did last year. Whatever we did last year wasn't enough obviously. Learn from our mistakes. I think that's a big thing. We can't make the same mistake twice. Then, going harder. Whether that's in the meeting room (or) in the weight room, out on the field, special teams, offense, defense, everything. We just got to go harder and we have to just do more than we did last year."
Not being complacent is the biggest key for the Lions as they look to take the next step. St. Brown seems to realize he's one of the players who has to set the tone for everyone.
