The Detroit Lions are off to a very hot start, and have taken care of business early on in 2023. A stout 20-6 road win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers leaves Detroit tied for the best record in the NFL.

Amon-Ra St. Brown is of course pleased with the start to the season. But as he explained after the win, the Lions are thinking bigger.

" To start 5-1 is huge, but for us, we take it one week at a time. We're going to celebrate this win, but as soon as this next week approaches, we're on to the next game, on to Baltimore. We put so much focus into each week and so much preparation. To come out with a victory feels really good. But we know we have bigger goals ahead of us. We want to keep doing what we're doing and we want to get to the playoffs. We want to have home field advantage for the playoffs. So there's so many things that we want to accomplish this year, but this just a start for us. We got to keep going."

The Lions haven't made the playoffs since 2016. They haven't won a playoff game since 1991 and a division title since 1993. They've also not hosted a playoff game since 1993, so it makes sense that St. Brown and others have targeted those kind of goals.

Amon-Ra St. Brown: Early, but Detroit Lions one of NFL's top teams

Are the Lions one of the best NFL teams NFL now? As St. Brown knows, it's early and plenty can change the rest of the way. Still, he thinks it's possible.

"There's a lot of football left to be played. But we keep playing like this, we'll have a good shot."

The Lions will have a chance to prove they are a top team over the rest of the season. But they are not resting on being 5-1, with much more to accomplish and to prove.
