Amon-Ra St. Brown has opportunity for big rebound vs. Tampa Bay
By Max DeMara
Amon-Ra St. Brown had an uncharacteristically quiet night in Week 1 against the Los Angeles Rams, with just three catches for 13 yards. That was his lowest output since Week 13 of last season, when he collected three catches for 21 yards against the Chicago Bears.
In spite of his own low output, St. Brown was encouraged by the fact the Lions were able to win the game.
"A win is a win, (especially when it's) the most important thing for us to get to where we need to go one week at a time. Obviously, you'd love to have catches and whatnot, (have more) yards but we found a way to win. I think as a whole, as an offense, we have a bunch of areas to improve everywhere and we know that first week, I feel like it's probably the toughest week for an offense just to get everything down. It was a tough game. Win's a win."
Amon-Ra St. Brown has chance for major rebound against Tampa Bay
If St. Brown was looking for a quick fix for his Week 1 struggles, a good opportunity looks to be coming this week.
Last season, St. Brown had 20 catches for 201 yards and two touchdowns over two games against Tampa Bay (Week 6 and the Divisional Round of the playoffs). The Buccaneers also have multiple injuries in their secondary this week.
St. Brown is excited to see the Buccaneers on the schedule, and knows the Lions will be ready for the challenge of a quality team that they have become very familiar with.
"I'm excited. I'm ready, obviously. I think we play them three times in less than a calendar year, so it's kind of crazy. We know them (and) they know us, but it's going to be a good battle. They got a good defense. They always do. They do a bunch of different stuff on defense too, so we've got to be ready.....We're going to have a plan for them. (We're) not ready yet. We got a few more days, but we'll be ready."
An inconsistent performance against the Rams is now in the rearview mirror, and St. Brown feels good about the offense's opportunity moving toward Week 2. As he should, especially on a personal level.
