5 realistic free agents the Lions could sign in 2024
3. CB Kendall Fuller
Fuller is a capable veteran who can play man and zone coverage, as well as outside and in the slot, and he does it all effectively. ESPN's Matt Bowen (subscription required) recently projected the Lions as the landing spot for Fuller.
"The Lions allowed 247.4 passing yards per game last season, sixth most in the league. But bringing in a perimeter corner like Fuller could boost the whole profile of the Detroit secondary. With 16 career interceptions (10 in his past four years with Washington) and the savvy technique to play both man and zone, Fuller is a good fit for Aaron Glenn's system."
The Commanders could tag Fuller, but that seems very unlikely. Washington also has the most cap space in the league, so they can pony up to keep whoever they'd like to (in theory). There may be an effort to retain him, but Fuller can and should explore his options. It's fair to assume he'll have several suitors.
Signing Fuller would not be the big move some Lions' fans would like to see for a veteran cornerback. But as part of a broader plan to add multiple pieces to make the final step to a Super Bowl next season, signing him would not prevent other free agent moves that could be on the radar to fill needs or upgrade spots.
