With training camps going across the NFL, and the full first week of preseason games coming, any player who is still available right now is available for a reason. It might be an injury or age concern, or a high asking price with minimal leverage to make that ask in August.
That being said, the Detroit Lions are no stranger to pivots as training camp and preseason games go on. Late moves to adjust the roster are, and should be, on the radar where applicable. Overall, this year's roster is the deepest the Lions have had in recent memory. So it may take a significant injury to really force a move before the season starts. But in a broader sense, general manager Brad Holmes surely has his ear to the ground for opportunities to churn depth and find upgrades at some spots. Cuts by other teams will provide some opportunities to consider.
But focusing on players who are without a team right now, here are four free agents the Lions could still sign before the 2023 season starts.
