With the majority of the NFL turning their attention to roster reconstruction, CBS sportswriter Zachary Pereles broke down the top 50 free agents and where he thinks those players will end up.

While Pereles doesn't believe the Lions will land any of the top free agents, he does believe that general manager Brad Holmes will be making a push for three offensive linemen this free agency period.

Pereles believes that Holmes will be making a push for Buffalo Bills offensive linemen David Edwards and Connor McGovern, while also making a push for Cade Mayes of the Carolina Panthers. The interest in the above-mentioned players highlight the need for the Lions to find a complementary interior offensive lineman for Tate Ratledge who could play both guard and center.

The Lions also may have to consider the possibility of incumbent center Graham Glasgow possibly opting for an early retirement as the 10-year NFL veteran has remained open about his future.

With Glasgow possibly calling it quits (along with the fact he's a free agent at the end of 2026), the Lions have a glaring position of need on the offensive line, especially due to the fact the unit dealt with plenty of injuries and inconsistent play in 2025.

The Lions' link to Edwards, McGovern, and Mayes, means that the team would be investing in versatile options who can play multiple positions on the offensive line, in addition to plenty of experience. All three options have started at least 25 games over the past four seasons, with Edwards starting 21 games (playoffs included) during the 2021 Los Angeles Rams Super Bowl season.

Regardless of if the general manager Brad Holmes makes a push for a veteran option or not, the team will have plenty of holes to fill from impact players to quality depth pieces on the offensive line. The team has already seen fan-favorite, and "6th-man" Dan Skipper announce his retirement, with Taylor Decker and Glasglow still mulling their futures for 2026.
