Within the idea the Detroit Lions could, should, etc. trade for Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett, some may say few things (players, draft picks) should be considered off-limits to part with. On Monday, Mike Valenti of 97.1 The Ticket offered a couple that felt like a stretch to give up for Garrett: three first-round picks and defensive back Brian Branch; a first-round pick, a third-round pick and tight end Sam LaPorta.
Regarding players the Lions could consider parting with in a trade for Garrett, should they even give great creed to the idea, it's safe to guarantee Branch, LaPorta and those of their ilk are not going anywhere. If not being willing to part with those kind of core players prevents them from getting Garrett, then so be it.
Former NFL wide receiver offers worst take yet about who Lions should trade for Myles Garrett
As this past season's trade deadline neared, ESPN analyst and former New York Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum proposed the Lions trading three first-round picks and running back Jahmyr Gibbs for Garrett. Tannenbaum also called Gibbs "replaceable", adding to the ridiculousness of his take.
Former University of Michigan and NFL wide receiver Braylon Edwards now works on a daily show for Detroit media company Woodward Sports. On Tuesday's edition of the show he co-hosts, the Garrett trade discussion around the Lions was a natural topic.
"For me there's only three players off-limits in the trade. That's Penei (Sewell), that's Amon-Ra (St. Brown and that's Gibbs. "Everybody else, including ninety-seven, will be on the table. You talking about Myles Garrett in his prime, and still in his prime, or Aidan Hutchinson and maybe he'll come back and be this player? This is my opinion. I'll take Myles Garrett and you can have Aidan Hutchinson."
After the idea of "Hutchinson and a pick?" was said in the background of his take, Edwards dismissed that.
"I'm doing one-for-one. That will be my Luka (Dončić) and A.D. (Anthony Davis)."

The conversation about the Lions potentially trading for Garrett has come with the obvious assumption they'd pair him with Hutchinson, not trade Hutchinson to get the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year and future Hall of Famer.
Beyond that. Hutchinson's recovery from a broken leg appears to be going very well. So to question his return to full health and being the dominant force he has been is a reach by Edwards at this point in time.
There are, and probably will continue to be, some wild ideas about what or who the Lions should be willing to give up to get Garrett. Edwards' suggestion they should be willing to trade Hutchinson for Garrett will not be topped as the worst take on that front.
