As this past November's trade deadline neared, there were some indications the Detroit Lions called the Las Vegas Raiders about Maxx Crosby. It's fair to assume the Raiders had an incredibly high asking price, as they should, and any talks never really got off the ground. Even if Lions radio sideline guy T.J. Lang, a close friend of Crosby, may have tried to recruit him to Detroit.
Last March, when asked on his podcast what other NFL team he'd want to play for if not the Raiders, Crosby said it'd be the Lions.
If the Raiders were off the table, what team would Maxx play for? π€ @NewEraCap

Crosby has Michigan ties. He grew up as a Lions fan in Lapeer, and he went to college in Ypsilanti at Eastern Michigan. He also was captured praising Dan Campbell during a conversation with Lions offensive tackle Penei Sewell at the 2023 Pro Bowl, where it was was news to Sewell that Crosby had grown up in Michigan.
Maxx Crosby gets Lions fans all stirred up again
The Raiders had another disappointing season this year, and the losing has to be getting frustrating for Crosby. Pete Carroll coming in as the new head coach brings credibility and fresh promise to the situation, but on Friday evening Crosby posted this on Twitter.
Undisputed.

There have been some rumors attaching Crosby to the Green Bay Packers. But Lions' fans have obviously taken the opportunity to fill the comments to Crosby's post with their calls for him to come aboard.

Crosby has two years left on his contract, so any talk of any other team trading for him can get a little bit more real that it's ever been. The Raiders would take on a noticeable amount of dead money by trading him this year ($10.2 million, according to Over The Cap), but they could clear $17,7 million in cap space and also acquire a couple decent draft picks to help their reset/rebuild.
For now at least, trading for Crosby still feels like an unrealistic dream for Lions' fans. But there's definitely a "never say never" element to it, and Crosby absolutely knows what he's doing when he posts things like he did on social media-which, interestingly, came after news the Raiders had hired Carroll but before the team announced if officially.
