The Detroit Lions are sitting at 3-2 in the NFC North ahead of their Week 7 home clash against the Green Bay Packers. It's going to be an excellent game, with both teams slowly but steadily improving so far this season, and with the Lions entering the contest the healthier team, for once.

Of course, it'd be nice to see the Lions get a win here - they'll be at Ford Field with the opportunity to take down a divisional rival en route to another divisional game in Week 8. But, it'd also be nice because it'd mark their first back-to-back string of victories since Week 5 of the 2025 season.

It has been 18 weeks since the Lions managed to have a win streak, which sunk them last year and threatens to be their undoing this year. They've also been slow to start out of bye weeks, putting an even darker cloud over this must-win contest.

Lions can secure first win streak since Week 5 of 2025 season with Packers win

Green Bay is coming off a string a victories, having won three in a row headed into Week 7. These wins, coming over the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, have to earn some qualifiers.

The Cowboys hold the worst defense in the league, full stop. The Bears were without Caleb Williams in their loss to the Packers. And, the Buccaneers are without Baker Mayfield, in addition to their other team woes.

So, were these convincing wins, or wins that any above-.500 team should be securing? Obviously, they don't weight the quality of wins at the end of every regular season - they're simply victories on a team's record. But, these wins are important to note as Green Bay hasn't dealt with as good as a defensive line as the Lions have since their Week 3 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

Lions need D-line to step up

Their offensive line is porous, to say the least, and getting to Jordan Love is going to be a huge key in this game. We know the Lions' secondary is their biggest weakness right now, and Love has a tendency to simply fire the ball down the field in hopes of drawing DPIs - and he often gets them.

Getting him on the ground before he can make these throws, or at the very least forcing these throws to be inaccurate enough to potentially generate some turnovers in the air, need to be of priority for Detroit.

This will help them to land a winning streak headed into a rock fight in Week 8 against the currently undefeated Vikings, who helm one of the worst offenses in the league and the far and away best defense.
