The Detroit Lions got off to a busy Wednesday morning, with Aaron Wilson announcing the signing of three players to the Lions practice squad - including a familiar face.

Wilson announced that the team had signed Jack Conley, Chris Hubbard, and Netane Muti amid injuries and uncertainty.

Detroit made no moves at the trade deadline for offensive line depth, which would've been difficult to swing in the first place considering the lack of guards available on the trade market.

Additionally, their cap situation for 2026 and beyond means they can only make marginal moves at the moment, especially as they look to work out extensions with Brian Branch, Jahmyr Gibbs, Sam LaPorta, and Jack Campbell.

Lions make roster moves ahead of Week 10

Hubbard goes into his 13th NFL season after coming out of UAB in 2013 as a UDFA. Hubbard has appeared in 102 NFL games with 61 starts, with the bulk of his experience coming from 2016 to 2020 with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns. Hubbard appeared in eight games for the New York Giants in 2024 with three starts.

Conley is a rookie UDFA out of Boston College who signed with the New England Patriots after the 2025 draft. After being waived during final cuts, he spent about a month on New England's practice squad before being released on September 30th. He has yet to appear in an NFL game.

The final signing was Muti, who returns to Detroit for his second go around. Muti was a 6th round draft pick (181st overall) in 2020 by the Denver Broncos, appearing in 22 games and four starts for the Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders in his career. He signed a future deal with the Lions in 2024, only to land on injured reserve in August, ending his season prematurely. Muti was brought back in 2025 and was released during final cuts.

The Lions appear to be without offensive guard Christian Mahogany until December, and they're still managing injuries to Taylor Decker, Penai Sewell and Tate Ratledge, all of which left their Week 9 matchup. However, all three returned to action. The Lions are set to take on the injury plagued Washington Commanders in hopes of rebounding from their loss against the Minnesota Vikings, and increasing their power in the NFC.
