The Detroit Lions have been ravaged by injuries to their defense this season, testing their depth and Aaron Glenn's prowess as a coordinator (bolstering his head coaching resume along the way). For a stretch of weeks it seemed like someone notable went down in every game. The situation has gotten a little better lately, but they're still fairly thin at cornerback with Carlton Davis (broken jaw) unlikely to be back this season.
On the Lions' second defensive play of Saturday night's Divisional Round game against the Washington Commanders, cornerback Amik Robertson suffered a left arm injury when he took some "friendly fire" from linebacker Jack Campbell after a reception by Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin.
Robertson stayed down for several minutes, before walking off the field with trainers. He went straight to the locker room, which is never a good sign. The first update from the team came very quickly.

CB Amik Robertson, Elbow, Questionable
Quite frankly, Robertson's injury looks like a little bit more than just a simple elbow issue. Be warned about the picture below if you're a little sensitive to these kind of things.

Kindle Vildor entered the game against the Commanders in Robertson's place.
Update: Robertson, as easily expected has been downgraded to out for the rest of Saturday night's game.

Amik Robertson is a big loss to the Lions' defense
With Davis out, Robertson has stepped up and moved to playing outside to matchup against the opponent's No. 1 wide receiver. In Week 18 against the Minnesota Vikings, with a little help from how bad Vikings' quarterback Sam Darnold was, Robertson primarily matched up with Justin Jefferson (35 of 43 routes, according to Next Gen Stats) and held Minnesota's star receiver pretty well in-check (two catches on six targets, for 48 yards, according to Pro Football Focus).
Some sort of update should come after the game.
Update, 11:42 p.m. ET: According to John Maakaron of SI.com, Robertson has a broken upper arm and he'll have surgery on Sunday morning. As the Lions head into the offseason now, he's got a 6-8 week recovery timetable.
