The Detroit Lions sit at 3-1 coming off their Week 5 bye. While they were idle last week, all three of the other teams in the NFC North won. The entire division is above .500, and it's the only division in the league that can say that right now.

On Monday Lions head coach Dan Campbell said he is not surprised by how good the NFC North has been, and he's fully embracing how it is.

"I'm not surprised. I expected this. Sitting here in another month, it's going to look very similar. We're all in there together. I think it's going to be one of the toughest divisions. I felt that way going into this year, so I'm not shocked one bit. We knew it was going to be a competitive division, but you don't want it any other way. I think that's awesome. I think it's a good thing, and you get to duke it out with some teams that are playing really good football."

The Lions have yet to play a divisional game this season, with the first not coming until Week 7 against the 5-0 Minnesota Vikings. So with it all in front of them, the Lions can very well assert themselves and win a second straight division title.

Kerby Joseph wants the Lions to tackle NFC North one game at a time

Lions safety Kerby Joseph was on "The Rich Eisen Show" with guest host Tom Pelissero late last week. Asked about the difficulty of the NFC North, he echoed Campbell's sentiment about the division.

"We just know we've got to become the NFC North champions again. We got to go and take over the division. We've got to take it one step at a time. So, going through each opponent, we just got to see them one week at a time. (We've) got to keep that grit. Just keep that grit. Don't stop. It's only up from here."

Campbell would surely agree with that entire assessment from Joseph, about the NFC North and overall, as the Lions' entire division schedule looms ahead of them.
