Kerby Joseph and Carlton Davis send the same message about Lions' blowout wins
The Detroit Lions, quite simply, took care of business on Sunday. The Jacksonville Jaguars were begging to be blown out, and they were; 52-6 when it was all said and done. It's also the third time since their bye week that the Lions have won by at least 38 points.
Some people just can't handle the Lions being so dominant.
Former New Jersey governor and noted Cowboys' fan Chris Christie decided he needed tocall out Dan Campbell after the Lions went into Dallas and came out with a 47-9 win in Week 6.
Before their Week 9 matchup against the Lions, Packers' safety Xavier McKinney said he wasn't a fan of the Lions' seemingly wanting to embarrass teams. He clearly did not watch tape of the Cowboys' game, or the Week 8 win over the Tennessee Titans, otherwise he would've seen how feeble those opponents were. To the Lions' credit, they did what a good team does to opponents like that.
Kerby Joseph and Carlton Davis send messages to whoever has a problem with Lions' blowouts
After Sunday's game, two tone-setters in the Lions' secondary had similar messages to those who want to criticize the Lions for blowing teams out.
Kerby Joseph thought Sunday was the third time the Lions scored 50 points in a game this season, and to be fair the Dallas game was close.
"If you really not coming ready to play, we’re gonna give you BTA (belt-to-a**) for sure,” Joseph said.
Then the NFL leader in interceptions landed the punchline.
"We’re just playing football. If you’re not coming ready to win, then you’re gonna get your a** whooped.”
Cornerback Carlton Davis was given a similar line of questions about the Lions' blowout wins, and he had the same sentiment as Joseph.
"If people have got problems with what we're doing or complaining about it, then they can just come out here and play better football. That's the only thing, that's the only fix to this problem," Davis said. "And, we'll welcome it, too. We don't shy away from nothing. We're going at you whether you want to, whether you're good or bad, we're going at you the same way every week."
When it comes down to it, the Lions' three blowout wins have come against teams that were all-too willing to roll over under the weight of their dominance. That's a testament to the all-around strength of a team, not a launching point for criticism. The Lions, surely beyond Joseph and Davis, will not and should not apologize for doing what a good team is supposed to do against opponents who are inferior and overmatched.
