Jared Goff is a former No. 1 overall pick, he has gone to two NFC title games and he has been to a Super Bowl in his career. But there was something missing from the quarterback's accomplishment mantle.

At no point had Goff won a Thanksgiving Day game. He was 0-3 in Detroit, and wanted badly to end the streak this year. Luckily, the Lions were able to outlast the Chicago Bears 23-20 on Thanksgiving Day to end that holiday drought.

With two touchdowns and 221 yards passing, Goff was an easy choice for MVP award recognition, finally claiming the elusive turkey leg award.

"(Getting the) turkey leg, it's the best. I was just talking about it. You have in your NFL career these bucket list items. Holding a Lombardi (Trophy) is obviously No. 1, but eating the turkey after the Thanksgiving win is up there too and that's something that I'll never forget. (The turkey) was actually pretty good and the stuffing was good and we were having a good time. It's awesome. It's a memory I'll have forever."

The Lions hope that Goff can continue to make memories the rest of the year similar to the one he enjoyed on Thanksgiving Day. If Goff is able to check off another bucket list item and win the Lombardi Trophy, it would represent a dream season in Detroit.

Jared Goff laments Detroit Lions' offensive problems in the red zone on Thanksgiving

The Lions almost didn't get to enjoy the turkey leg moment with Goff due to their offensive inefficiency in the first half. Detroit settled for three field goals and one touchdown en route to a 16-0 lead that nearly evaporated in the second half.

"I think the red zone stuff, we had a chance to make it 28-0 or whatever it would have been if we would have scored all the touchdowns. Even at the end on that drive at the end of the half, (we) make it 23-0 or even 19-0 if we get a field goal. But, you kind of left the door open a little bit and you know this is going to be a game now. We've kind of put ourselves in this position unfortunately, kind of have to fight for it now and continue to finish this game."

Fortunately, the Lions got the win, and will now turn their focus to ending the season and making the improvements they need in order to clean things up on the offensive side of the ball.
