It seems like every week, Jared Goff or his teammates set another milestone in NFL history, and the Detroit Lions' victory against the Cincinnati Bengals was no exception.
After another win and another pristine performance, Goff has etched his name in the record books once again, this time alongside of Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning.
Manning, and now Goff, are the only two quarterbacks in NFL history to complete 75 percent of their passes, throw for 12 or more TDs, and have total a passer rating of 120 or more through the first five games of any season. Manning accomplished this feat in 2013 during his record setting MVP season that ended in a Denver Broncos Super Bowl berth. That's one that they lost badly, but still.
Goff adds name to record book after Lions' win over Bengals in Week 5
Now that Goff has spent the majority of his career with Detroit - 70 games with the Lions, and 69 games with the Rams - the former number one overall pick continues to grow the legacy of the franchise that many thought was using him as a place holder.
The 2025 Lions have continued to evolve into one of the NFL's premiere franchises which was almost an unfathomable thought in 2021 the first year of the Goff era. Their offense is the huge part of why, and Goff is the head of that snake. With his scoring proficiency continuing into the 2025 season, it's obvious that Detroit is on track to once again be the most elite offense in the NFL this regular season.

Goff has led the Lions to a 43-26-1 record , and a 42-27 record in LA. But, aside from the wins and losses, his contribution to the franchise and the city has been so much more.
Between him, general manager Brad Holmes, and head coach Dan Campbell, the trio has built a culture in the building that has revitalized the city. Detroit is once again excited about a football team that, at one point, was the laughingstock of the NFL for the better part of almost 30 years.
At the helm of this change has been Goff. The result? Two playoff berths, and the Lions now in route to a third, in addition to another spot in the record books next to one the best to ever do it. Another quarterback battle lies ahead for Goff and the Lions in Week 6 against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
