Over the last four seasons, Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff leads the NFL in passing touchdowns and passing yards while being in some select company as a fantasy signal caller.
Goff also hasn't missed a start since Week 17 of the 2021 season, his first as a Lion. That means he has started 69 straight regular season games, and 73 straight games including the playoffs. That's a nice streak in the context of Lions' history, but it's a long way from the all-time record set by Brett Favre and a good bit shy of the current long of 122 straight games started (for a quarterback) by Josh Allen.
In a look at 10 notable NFL streaks that are on the line entering the 2026 season, including Allen's consecutive starts streak, Eva Geitheim of SI.com noted Goff's longest active streak in another area.
Jared Goff is in position to extend a notable streak this season
Goff has thrown a touchdown pass in 23 consecutive games, starting with the Thanksgiving Day game against the Chicago Bears in Week 13 of the 2024 season. In 15 of those games, he has had multiple touchdown passes and a soft schedule has him positioned to keep the streak going a while longer this season.
With a touchdown pass in each of the first nine games this season, Goff would have a top-10 such streak in league history. Doing it in every game this season would give him the sixth-longest streak of games with a touchdown pass, at an even 40 games.

Should he throw a touchdown pass in every game this season, it will take almost another full season for Goff to best Drew Brees, who had a touchdown pass in a record 54 straight games. Brees also had a streak of 45 straight games with a touchdown pass, the fifth-longest ever. As if 54 or 45 straight games with a touchdown pass isn't lofty enough, one game without a touchdown pass, on a short week in November of 2012, kept Brees' streak from being an epic 100 straight games.
Goff is unlikely to best Brees' record streak of games with a touchdown pass. But along with his streak of pass attempts without an interception a few years ago, he can take another lofty place historically by notably continuing his streak of games with a touchdown pass.
History has shown the Lions are keenly aware of players who have streaks going, records in play, contract incentives attached to stats, etc. So it's safe to assume they will do what they reasonably can to help Goff continue to solidify his place among the most underappreciated quarterbacks of this era.
