Coming out of the Detroit Lions' Week 8 bye, offensive coordinator John Morton made it clear he felt he had "failed" wide receiver Jameson Williams. Over the first seven games, the numbers backed that up (30 total targets).

In Week 9, Williams had four catches (on six targets) for 66 yards and a touchdown. Head coach Dan Campbell notably took over the offensive play-calling in Week 10, then Williams set a season-high with 119 yards (on six catches) while extending his scoring streak to two games.

Williams made it three straight games with a touchdown in Week 11 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Over those three games, he has 20 targets (at least six in each) with a big play reception (37-plus yards) in each contest.

Over the last three games, more involvement has met Williams' big-play ability in a fashion his fantasy managers had been waiting for early in the season. Going back a little further, he has scored and topped 65 yards in four of his last five games.

Fantasy analyst puts next level in play for Jameson Williams in Week 12

With tight end Sam LaPorta (back) set to miss at least three more games on IR, the role Williams has had lately is not going away, Over the last three weeks, he is the WR2 in standard and 0.5-point PPR fantasy scoring (WR4 in full PPR).

In Week 12 the Lions will face the New York Giants, who are allowing the sixth-most fantasy points to wide receivers this season (30.1 per game; Yahoo! scoring-0.5-point PPR).

With that in mind, and with some key pieces of the Giants' secondary having started the practice week on the injury report, Nathan Jahnke of Pro Football Focus took an easy "start 'em" recommendation for Williams this week to another level,

"Williams' floor should be higher than normal because of LaPorta’s injury and Campbell’s play calling, and his ceiling should be higher because of the Giants' defense."

"He should be considered a mid-to-high-end WR2 this week, but the potential is there for him to be the top overall wide receiver."

In a broad sense, facing the Giants at home on Sunday is an easy get-right opportunity for the Lions' offense. For Williams it's a prime opportunity to keep his recent run of production going, along with a real chance to go a level beyond that baseline in a critiical week for his fantasy managers.
