The Detroit Lions have an offense that figures to be one of the NFL's best again in 2026, and a big reason that is the case is a fantastic wide receiver group.
Led by Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams, the Lions have two of the best recievers in the league. In Isaac TeSlaa, the Lions have a second-year player capable of making explosive plays and amazing catches.
Predicting who will be the star in the group this season isn't easy to do as a result, but there's a new idea coming from ESPN analyst Dan Graziano. Despite the fact that St. Brown seems like he is likely to have a career season, a surprise could be waiting in the form of Williams.
Graziano's bold prediction for 2026? Williams leads Detroit in receiving, and has a dominating season where he is the unquestioned leader of the Lions' resurgent and explosive offense.
"No disrespect to Amon-Ra St. Brown, one of the most consistent pass catchers in the entire league. But I think this Lions offense is going to hum this season, and Williams is the player poised to take the biggest leap."
"For a few years now, the coaching staff has been pushing Williams to expand his route repertoire and contribute as more than just a deep threat. And in Drew Petzing's offense, Williams could be poised to do just that. The Lions' schedule of opposing defenses sets up well for Williams, and if he proves himself to be a trustworthy target for Jared Goff, he could be in for a career year."
Williams has been pegged for a breakout many seasons in the past, but it looks as if this season could be his best chance to evolve into that kind of player. Finally, Williams is healthy and looks mature enough to make things happen that he hasn't on the field.
Drew Petzing seems to realize that Williams can be a game-changer for an offense, so seeing Williams break out in this way would be a big deal. It would likely mean the Lions were potent, and unleashing the deep ball with regularity.
Williams feels good about where he's at going into 2026 season
In order for Williams to have this type of season, he's going to have to lock in and prove he can shoulder the load of an offense. During training camp, he spoke about his feelings heading into a new season, and said that he believes heading into his fifth season he is more ready and mature.
"I feel like I've grown a lot, just with age and (also have) grown with the game. (I've) matured a lot. It's just part of the game though, I would say. Day by day, I've been trying to get better. Like I said, (I) stack days. I just want to work my way, (with) my ending goal being a top (NFL) receiver."

To hear Williams outlining his goal of being the best is an exciting admission. It shows not only does he have the talent, but the ambition. Sometimes, it's hard to get those elements to line up for a player, but in the case of Williams, it seems everything is falling into place.
While Williams has yet to prove himself as the lead star for Detroit's offense, Petzing coming into the conversation may change everything. He may look at Williams as one of the best deep threats in the league, and want to make sure everything is done in his power to unleash him this season. Many people believe that is going to be the case this season.
