The Detroit Lions didn't play a very impressive game in Week 9 against the Minnesota Vikings, but there were still some considerable bright spots to be noted.

Defensively, the Lions battled most of the afternoon. In spite of giving up 27 points, the group generated some big stops and gave the Lions a fighting chance despite being routinely handed short fields. One of the most impressive players all day was linebacker Jack Campbell.

Campbell was active, racking up nine total tackles and one sack against Minnesota. It was another fantastic step in the right direction for a young player who is beginning to make his imprint in plenty of ways in the league.

Now, Campbell's game is very noticeable every single week and he is becoming hard to ignore for some of the experts. Former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel was impressed with what he saw on tape against the Vikings, and highlighted some of his best plays which he believes could prove that Campbell is the best linebacker in the league.

"Watch him right here just absolutely run over Jordan Mason. Runs his guy into the quarterback and makes him do a flip. Just unbelievable. Then, we have a great tackle. Watch him drive this running back, shed the tackle, shed the guard and drop him on his face. Then, this play right here, he's going to blitz. Watch what he does. This should not have been a personal foul. Look how quickly he gets to the quarterback and punishes him. It's unbelievable."

As Daniel says, the rush in question on J.J. McCarthy which was flagged shouldn't have been a penalty. It was one of many questionable calls on the afternoon against Detroit, but there's no doubt Campbell wouldn't use that as an excuse for his team's defeat.

Campbell remains everywhere on the field, and has caught the eye of a player who used to contend with fearsome defenders. It's high praise indeed as it relates to the continued evolution of his game.

Campbell already meeting his stated goals halfway through 2025 season

Coming into this season, Campbell set out to make a major imprint on the game, and he's done just that. With his play now jumping off the screen, it's fair to say that he has found the evolution he was seeking before 2025 began.

Speaking on "Green Light with Chris Long" prior to the season, Campbell revealed to Long that he wanted to become the kind of productive player and leader that his teammates could rely on. He named those variables even before saying he wanted to win the Super Bowl.

"I would say the goal for me is to just take the next step in my play. I'm a deep thinker. I like everything to be perfect and I'm kind of high strung. So for me, this year, I just want to go out and play free. If I go out there and play free, everything else will take care of itself. Also, I want to be able to lead well. I want to earn respect from the guys in the locker room, which I feel like up to this point I have. But I just want all the guys in the locker room to know that I'll always put them before myself."

Watching him play, it's safe to say that Campbell is meeting these goals in a big way. The only thing that is left to be seen is if the Lions can win that long-awaited Super Bowl which Campbell also craves.

Having one of the best linebackers in football is a great way to potentially make that dream come true once the playoffs begin.
