Final Detroit Lions Week 13 injury report confirms 2 starters out vs. Bears
Injuries to significant players are bad in any week, but they're especially bad on a short week. Coming out of last Sunday's win over the Indianapolis Colts, the Detroit Lions had several injury concerns going into their Thanksgiving matchup against the Chicago Bears.
Head coach Dan Campbell hasn't been overly optimistic about a trio of injured Lions from the game against the Colts, and on Monday's practice estimation wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown was listed with a knee issue. Tuesday's practice estimation was better for St. Brown and running back David Montgomery, who suffered a shoulder injury against the Colts, but the same trio Campbell was concerned about when the week started look to surely be out on Thursday.
On Wednesday morning, the status of one of those three players was confirmed.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported wide receiver Kalif Raymond is going to be placed on IR due to the foot injury he suffered against the Colts. So he will miss at least the next four games.
Offensive tackle Taylor Decker suffered knee and ankle injuries after being rolled up on during a Jared Goff sack against the Colts. His initial optimism has been directly contradicted by Campbell all week.
Cornerback Carlton Davis appears to have avoided a very serious knee injury against the Colts, and he qualified his initial optimism right after the game as pending what further medical evaluations would reveal. His being able to play the next game on a normal week would be a question, but a short week practically makes it certain he'll be out on Thursday.
Here's the final Week 13 injury report for the Lions.
- OT Taylor Decker (knee)-Out
- CB Carlton Davis (knee/thumb)-Out
- RB David Montgomery (shoulder)-Questionable
- WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (knee)-Questionable
- CB Terrion Arnold (groin)-No designation
- DT DJ Reader (illness)-No designation
As expected all week with the short week, Decker and Davis are out. Montgomery and St. Brown are questionable, but both are expected to play on Thursday. Arnold missed Week 12 with a groin injury but he's good to go, as is Reader after being listed on Monday's practice estimate with an illness.
And here is the final Week 13, Thanksgiving Day, injury report for the Bears.
- DB Elijah Hicks (ankle)-Out
- OL Ryan Bates (concussion)-Out
