Myles Garrett has made it clear that he and the Cleveland Browns are not on the same wavelength when it comes to the future. The Browns continue to make it clear they are not willing to trade him, but time will tell if they move off that stance. Garrett felt compelled to go public with his trade request, apparently weeks after making it behind the scenes, so how far will he go to force the Browns' hand?

In a broad sense, the Detroit Lions should be interested in Garrett. At minimum, they cannot completely sit out of the conversation to acquire the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year on the sheer idea it'll cost too much to trade for him. Still, as some Lions' analysts will tell you at every possible opportunity they get, trading for Garrett is unlikely unless they make a dramatic shift from their core roster building strategy.

NFL draft analyst is fully on-board with Lions trading for Myles Garrett

NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah did a conference call with reporters on Thursday. He noted a deep 2025 draft class of edge rushers, mentioning a couple names specifically (Tennessee's James Pearce, Texas A&M's Shemar Stewart) as options with the 28th overall pick. But he said he would be aggressive about trying to get Garrett if he were Lions' general manager Brad Holmes.

"I mean, that was the team that made the most sense for me with Myles Garrett, Detroit. Just because, A, if they ever felt comfortable with moving him — which it sounds like at this point they are not — but if they are comfortable, you get him outside the conference and he goes to Detroit," Jeremiah said, via SI.com. "Detroit has the roster that's ready to win right now, ready to win a championship, and that could be a finishing piece."

"So I would be willing to be pretty aggressive I think, if I were Brad Holmes on that front, knowing that that could bring a parade to my city, and do whatever I had to do to make something like that happen," Jeremiah said. "We'll just have to see if it's a legit possibility. Everything in talking to people around the league, the expectation is, 'Nah, they’re not going to move him, he’s not going to go anywhere.' So we’ll see what happens."

Jeremiah finished his thoughts about trading for Garrett with the most important caveats. He's just on-board with the Lions making an effort, and with that thought he is spot-on.
