Dan Campbell not thrilled with reveal of Lions' terminology on social media

Lions head coach Dan Campbell was not aware of a social media post that looked revealing before a reporter brought it up, and he wasn't happy about it.

Some hiccups on Thanksgiving Day against the Chicago Bears will not diminish that the Detroit Lions' offense is doing pretty well, as Ben Johnson advances himself once again as a top head coaching candidate.

Running back Jahmyr Gibbs was productive with his touches against the Bears, with 87 yards on nine carries. But after a fumble late in the first half, he had just two carries in the second half. During his press conference on Saturday, head coach Dan Campbell was asked if there was particular reason for Gibbs' lack of activity in the second half.

"No, not really. I think it was more, we cycle those guys and David was kind of in rotation," Campbell said. "And then we just didn't get a lot of plays. We had two of those drives that were stall-outs, where we had a three-and-out and a four-and-out, or I guess both of them might have been a four and out. It just didn't quite work out, really."

Right after that, Campbell was asked by a reporter (revealed to be Justin Rogers of Detroit Football Network, though his voice is recognizable to frequent watchers of Campbell's press conferences) about a social media post by Gibbs that appeared to reveal pass protection terminology (among other things?).

Dan Campbell was not pleased about Jahmry Gibbs' social media post

Campbell asked Rogers for clarification on the details ("who was that?"), and got them before offering a response.

"Oh I didn’t know that. I did not know that. Yeah, I need to check on that," Campbell said. "I did not know that. Yeah, I’d rather our stuff not be out there. Thanks.”

Campbell ending his press conference right then may have been a coincidence of time allotment, but it was an interesting note to end on.

As for Gibbs' social media post, here it is.

Practice squad running back Jermar Jefferson is in the photo, with a well-written on whiteboard behind him with terminology that can be pretty clearly read. You'd have to know what you're reading to get anything from it, but it's there for inquiring, knowledgeable minds to see and try to decipher. And Campbell was clearly not pleased about the post, as expected.

Of course Rogers was the subject of some ribbing by his fellow beat writers for posing that particular question to Campbell.

Rogers' question about Gibbs' social media post starts at the 9:29 mark in the video below, with Campbell's response following it.
