Dan Campbell has hilarious and perfect response to Chris Christie's comments
After the Detroit Lions (at least seemingly) emptied their bag of trick plays in a 47-9 drubbing of the Dallas Cowboys in Week 6, former New Jersey governor (and noted Cowboys' fan) Chris Christie decided it was appropriate to reveal some sort of beef he has with head coach Dan Campbell during an appearance of "Mad Dog Unleashed" last week.
"That's Dan Campbell. He's got no class, never has," Christie said. "It's fine. Dan Campbell, that's the way he is. And what goes around comes around. Look, I think that it's misdirected. Dan Campbell is angry because the referees got a call wrong in a game a year ago....But it's his perogative, it's the reputations that he'll care around the league and quite frankly it's his rep now."
Christie came off a sore loser and a cry-baby after his favorite team got embarrassed on its home field like it never has under the stewardship of owner Jerry Jones, and if nothing else his comments put his name in the news for a bit. It's also fair to say he stands completely alone in having much of anything negative to say about Campbell.
Dan Campbell has perfect response to Chris Christie calling him 'classless'
During his press conference on Monday, Campbell was asked about Christie's comments. His response is a fresh entry on the list of memorable Campbell quotes.
"The last time someone called me classless, I was drinking wine out of a bottle,” Campbell said. “But, no, I’m not worried about it.”
Asked what color said wine-in-a-bottle was back when someone last said he had no class, Campbell said "It was red."
Campbell felt no need to defend what the Lions did in that game against the Cowboys, nor should he have. Starters were pulled when the game was truly in no doubt (after three quarters), so as not to run up the score any more than it already was. The Lions probably could have scored 50 points if they wanted to.
Christie was lame and out of line with his comments, and Campbell had a perfect, hilarious and appropriate response to brush them off-as expected.
