Usually, Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell is a bundle of intensity in the team's postgame locker room. Last week, after the Thanksgiving Day win over the Chicago Bears, he was far more subdued.
The Lions clinched a playoff spot with their 34-31 win over the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night. They are 12-1, with an 11-game winning streak and a clear path to winning the NFC North as they now head into a "mini bye" before taking on the Buffalo Bills at Ford Field on Dec. 15.
Thankfully for those of us who produce content, Campbell was back in his usual postgame locker room form on Thursday night. Also thankfully, thanks to Prime Video, we didn't have to wait for the Lions to release the video to see what Campbell said to his team.
Dan Campbell was back in typical postgame speech form after win over Packers
The Lions' postgame locker room video is always a few minutes long, with game balls issued by Campbell along with his speech. But Campbell's postgame speech was shown immediately on the postgame show Thursday night, and Prime Video dropped the same clip on Twitter.
“I’m so freakin’ proud of you, man.” Campbell said. “That’s the way to show up. You talk about pressure, we live in pressure. That’s where we freakin’ thrive. You did it again."
Four players who were not on the team a week ago saw noticeable action for the Lions' defense on Thursday night. Edge rusher Mitchell Agude was also elevated from the practice squad for the first time this season. Campbell hit that note as he continued.
“It doesn’t matter who’s playing for us, it doesn’t matter what’s going on, you always find a way to win,” Campbell shouted. “This has been in the making, man. This has been in the making. We were all supposed to be here together. We’re destined for this. Just stay the course."
Update: Here's the full postgame locker room video.
Campbell's postgame speeches are always great. But his whole vibe was a notch or two more intense than usual after Thursday night's victory, as he was screaming for the entire clip that was shown. This win, to earn a season sweep of a division rival, clearly meant a little bit more to him-as expected.
