The Detroit Lions tied a franchise record with six players selected for the Pro Bowl this year, and the announcement of this year's AP All-Pro teams was sure to run pretty parallel. On Friday, six Lions players were announced as All-Pros-including four on the First Team.
Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, offensive tackle Penei Sewell, safety Kerby Joseph and punter Jack Fox are the four First Team All-Pros. The four All-Pro selections ties the 1991 team for the Lions' most since the 1970 AFL/NFL merger.
St. Brown and Sewell are First Team All-Pros for the second straight year. Fox was a Second Team All-Pro last year, and this is his first First Teams selection, as it also is for Joseph.
St. Brown finished the regular season with 115 receptions for 1,263 yards and 12 touchdowns to become just the third player in NFL history to record at least 115 receptions and 10 receiving touchdowns in consecutive seasons.
Sewell had another excellent season, allowing just one sack on over 600 pass blocking reps while also clearing the way for the Lions' ground game. His Pro Football Focus run blocking grade (90.5) was the second-best among offensive tackles during the regular season.
Joseph led the league with nine interceptions this season, along with a career-high 83 tackles and 12 passes defended. He was PFF's highest-graded safety for the regular season.
Fox led the league in both average yards per punt (51.0) and net average (45.8). He currently holds the NFL record for career punting average (48.8).
Center Frank Ragnow is a Second Team All-Pro, as is wide receiver Kalif Raymond for his prowess as a punt returner. Ragnow is a three-time Second Team selection (2020, 2023, 2024), Raymond is a two-time Second Team selection now (2022 and 2024).
Ragnow has yet to be a First-Team All-Pro, but being on the Second Team is nothing to sneeze at. Despite missing five games, Raymond led the league in punt return yards (413) while finishing third in average per return (13.8 yards).
Lions have four First Team All-Pros, including Kerby Joseph
When Joseph was egregiously snubbed for the popularity contest that is the Pro Bowl, the league's interception leader this season had a perfect response while noting a more meaningful honor.
"I saw it and I was like, 'Wow, that's crazy.' But I wasn't really too much worried about the Pro Bowl. I ain't trying to be in the Pro Bowl. I'm trying to be in that Super Bowl. I feel like All-Pro is the real recognition that people give," Joseph said, via Lions.com. "I'm not really worried about it. I'm focused on the Super Bowl. I wasn't going to go the Pro Bowl anyways."
Here's Joseph's reaction to being told he was First Team All-Pro.
Fox's special teams teammates, kicker Jake Bates and long snapper Hogan Hatten, told him he made First Team All-Pro.
