The clock ticks on for Brad Holmes and the Detroit Lions in their pursuit to add a pass rusher who can start to their 2026 roster. Al-Quadin Muhammad and Marcus Davenport remain unsigned, while Aidan Hutchinson just waits for any sort of help to land at Ford Field. The Maxx Crosby saga continues to play out, but not with any meaningful Lions involvement.

That doesn't mean that the Lions don't have some options left on the table, though. Cap space remains a constraint, but there are a few "bargain" signings they could zero in on for meaningful snaps in 2026.

Outside of just running it back with either Muhammad or Davenport, there are at least three other pass rushers left in free agency that Holmes should be thinking about pitching to ahead of a pretty key Lions season.

3 pass rushers Lions can still sign amidst free agency lull

Cam Jordan

Probably the most popular name still out there for Detroit, Jordan would be a fit akin to Crosby in that he's been unbelievably consistent as a pass rusher in this league.

For 14 seasons, he's picked up 132 total sacks, and he just had 10.5 sacks in 2025...at 36 years old. Could it have been flukey considering he had single digit sack numbers just two seasons prior? Maybe. But, he's also been the least injury-prone pass rusher that Detroit could bring on. His run defense is also a plus, which is sorely needed in the Lions' defense.

Jordan, for what it's worth, also told reporters following the end of the 2025 season that he was less worried about money, and more worried about competing. That screams "sign me, Lions!"

Jordan's AAV, per Spotrac: $6.8 million

Joey Bosa

Doing a complete 180 as it pertains to injury and reliability, Bosa would be a very risky signing for Detroit. They'd most certainly have to go with an edge at 17th overall to ensure they're getting a day one starting talent if they sign Bosa.

When he's active, he's a great bull rusher who can generate some pressure in the pocket, but he's not going to wow you at this point in his career with his ability to get to the quarterback. But, you've also got to take Hutchinson's presence into account. Maybe two pass rushers in the mix rather than Bosa shouldering the bulk of work would help his production.

Last season, he tallied five sacks and just 29 total tackles, but he did have five forced fumbles.

Jadeveon Clowney

Clowney would be another risky signing just for his age, but he'd also be an experienced veteran to add to the edge rusher room. Last year, he posted 8.5 sacks and one forced fumbles, and he was in the top-20 graded pass rushers by PFF.

He played 13 games for the Dallas Cowboys in 2025, so you wonder about his ability to make it through the majority of season, and about his ability to make it to the postseason. Detroit has a fourth-place schedule coming up, so the chances of them doing so are likely.

Clowney's AAV, per Spotrac: $5.7 million
