The Lions’ plans for the first round of the NFL Draft are starting to crystalize after the surprising move to send former third-overall pick Jeff Okudah to the Atlanta Falcons this morning.

Detroit has committed significant resources to revamp its secondary this offseason, signing C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Cameron Sutton, and Emmanuel Moseley. However, oddsmakers believe the Lions aren’t done yet, especially after jettisoning away a starter from last year’s team.

FanDuel allows you to bet on which position each team will draft first, and the odds suggest that the Lions are increasingly likely to select a cornerback.

Detroit Lions First Drafted Position Odds

While some analysts believe Detroit will look at a defensive lineman, a combination of factors indicate the Lions will instead look to bolster their secondary even further.

Detroit will select sixth overall and two cornerback prospects, in particular, stand out as enticing options. Devon Witherspoon of Illinois and Christian Gonzales of Oregon are considered the best corners in the class and top-10 overall prospects, and FanDuel’s odds imply one of those two players will be the selection.

If the Lions go in a different direction, Tyree Wilson from Texas Tech would likely be the pick. That being said, it wouldn’t stun me to see them draft a quarterback at +1000 odds if someone like Anthony Richardson were to fall out of the top five.

If you think you know which position Detroit will select, there’s still time to get your bet in before the value dissipates. Keep a close eye on the latest updates, but for now, it appears that Lions fans will have a “Witherspoon” or “Gonzales” jersey to purchase here in a few weeks.
