Jason and Travis Kelce praise Brad Holmes, and the Detroit Lions moves in free agency, on the latest episode of their “New Heights” podcast.
This is all new for Detroit Lions fans. Sure the media has had their back a time or two in the last decade, but getting recognition from other players? This is certainly a different feeling for the Lions organization. As Jason Kelce returns for another season with the Philadelphia Eagles, the signing of C.J. Gardner-Johnson has become a relevant situation and talking point for the veteran center.
Kelce and his brother, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, discussed the Lions during their recap of the first week of free agency on the latest episode of the “New Heights” podcast.
Starting at the 25:26 of the above linked video.
"I know that C.J. is worth a lot more than $8 million a year as a player. Dude’s a baller,” Jason said. Jason went on to say that the Lions got a steal with the Gardner-Johnson signing. “They got better this offseason. Detroit was really, really good at the end of the year. They finished on a pretty dang good note. I think there’s a very bright future up there in Detroit, and you guys just got an unbelievable player there for a steal if you look at his playing ability. No question about it,” Jason added."
The Kelce brothers join the Detroit Lions bandwagon
It wasn’t long ago that Aaron Rodgers gave the world his infamous “can’t lose a game like that against that team” quote following the Lions 15-9 win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 9 last season. Sure Rodgers was the long-time quarterback for a division rival, but it also spoke volumes about how many other players and teams in the NFL have felt about the Lions for a long time.
Of course, we know Rich Eisen is all aboard the Lions bandwagon, as he proclaimed they would not only win the NFC North but host a home playoff game next season.
While some uncertainty may still be lingering somewhere, especiall among a Lions’ fanbase that is not used to any sort of expectations, the vote of confidence from two NFL All-Pros will only bolster the changing narrative in Detroit. There is more positivity surrounding the Lions’ franchise than at any point over the last two decades, and if this is to become the new norm Lions fans will need to buckle up for a wild ride.
