As DJ Chark perhaps eyes leaving the Detroit Lions in free agency, an NFL scout has tied him to another of their NFC North rivals.

A lackluster group of free agent wide receivers is sure to drive contract prices up for some guys, and it’s possible the market for DJ Chark gets too rich for the Detroit Lions. His first season in Detroit ended well, but ultimately it was a disappointing one.

Chark is an interesting potential free agent for a large sampling of teams. Pro Football Focus previously projected him to land elsewhere in the NFC North with the Minnesota Vikings. The Buffalo Bills, Chicago Bears and Baltimore Ravens also make some sense at a glance.

An unnamed NFL scout recently spoke to NFL Analysis Network, and named another potential suitor for Chark.

"The Packers want to add a veteran weapon at the wide receiver position this offseason. Chark could be an ideal fit, especially due to the fact that his price tag won’t be huge. Plenty of other teams are expected to pursue Chark, but Green Bay will likely be among the list of suitors.”"

NFL Free Agency: Could DJ Chark land with the Green Bay Packers?

The offseason plan for the Green Bay Packers can’t really get going until Aaron Rodgers makes his decision about his future, which should be coming soon. Will he play? Does he want to play for another team? Do the Packers even want him back?

But regardless of who their quarterback is next season, the Packers need more weapons around him. Cost will be a factor, and the scout who spoke to NFL Analysis Network confirmed the idea that Chark’s market will be pretty good.

But if Chark doesn’t have the interest it’s expected he’ll have, the Packers could swoop in and get him at a bargain. It’s hard to say they’d greatly weaken the Lions by signing him, but he would likely find a bigger role in Green Bay than he seems in line to have if he returned to Detroit.
